Question by shelstar27: What can I make with cooking apples?
I just went to the farmer’s market for some produce. I bought some cooking apples, not even realizing they were cooking kind. Just thought they were another variety to eat raw. I have never used cooking apples, and I’m not even that big a fan of cooked apples. I have 8 apples. What can I make with them? I’m looking more for healthier recipes if there is anything. And also would prefer not to use the oven in the summer.
Any suggestions?

Cut them into medium sized cubes, then stir fry them with butter, cinnamon and some sugar. Makes a good snack.

You can make an awesome desert, if you are willing to use the oven for a bit.
Apple-Cranberry Cookie Cobbler
*Even if you do not like cranberries… not tart
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Peel, core, and slice apples. Cut apples in half; place in deep dish baker. Combine cranberry sauce, sugar (or Splenda), flour, and cinnamon in bowl; mix well. Pour over apples; mix well. Cut cookie dough in half; reserve one portion for another use. Slice cookie dough into 1/4-inch thick slices. Arrange evenly over apple mixture. Bake 30-35 minutes or until apples are tender and top is golden brown. Yield: 10 servings.
YUM!!
8 cooking apples, are just right for a nice apple pie.
Also apple crisp, the old fashion kind is just great, and if all else fails, applesauce is wonderful….
Applesauce, baked apples, apple pie. Applesauce is made on the stovetop, not the oven.
4 apples – peeled, cored and chopped
3/4 cup water
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
In a saucepan, combine apples, water, sugar, and cinnamon. Cover, and cook over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes, or until apples are soft. Allow to cool, then mash with a fork or potato masher.
delishious cooked apples with cinnimon. + u can also make apple sause they same way you make cooked apples excapt they are mashed. DONT FROGRT CINNIMON
My husband loves chunky applesauce. Cut the apples into pieces (peeled or unpeeled) and put into a casserole dish. Sprinkle with a little sugar and cinnamon (do NOT add water) Cover and microwave about 5 min. Take them out and slightly mash them; recover & heat another 3 min or so (depending how many you do); slightly mash when done. Eat hot or cold (good with ice cream on them too)
Use Radish’s suggestion for cooking and eat it over Vanilla Bean Ice cream
