Question by murtaza: What should i eat between lunch and dinner?
Hi, I am trying to avoid eating casually between lunch and dinner. Because it not only makes me gain weight, but effects negatively my psychology too. There is around 6-7 hours between lunch and dinner so I get hungry. But I have this kind of situation: If I eat a little thing (an apple, or that kind of small things) it makes me even more hungry. I stop feeling hungry if I don’t eat anything at all, but this time I start to feel tired and dizzy, i think my blood sugar level gets low. I don’t know what to do. What would you recommend?

Yes, it’s important to eat a good snack between lunch and dinner. Go for some protein, because that will help power you through the afternoon and will fill you up so you won’t want to eat more. I recommend: cottage cheese with fruit (serious protein there!), apple slices with peanut butter, or a bagel with cream cheese (surprisingly, bagels have a lot of protein too). Avoid sugar, because that won’t give you energy and can leave you craving more. That’s probably what the apple is doing.
Hope these ideas help! 🙂

Have something that has lots of water in it as well as something that has some (only some!) fat and protein in it as snacks. You don’t feel satisfied with only and apple because it is basically only water. Also, fruit is composed mainly of sugar. This means that your body absorbs it quite easily so you get hungry again quick quickly. The protein and fat component of your snack will give your body something that will take a bit longer to absorb and get energy from so you won’t feel hungry fo longer period of time. A good example of a fat and protein snack is milk. So you could have a fruit and milk as a snack.
Hope this helps and best of luck!

You are describing reactive hypoglycemia. When you eat a high sugar snack (like an apple), without any protein, your body will produce excess insulin then crash shortly afterward. Eat nuts or cheese for a snack, not carbs.
